Solo Ride to Istanbul Day 2 - Battling the Steep Incline Deep within the Swiss Alps

Today I woke up at 7am feeling like I’d been hit with a ton of bricks. My eyes are heavy, but my nose is worse - the hay fever really got me yesterday.

But it’s okay! Today I only have a 6 hour ride but it’s all non motorway thankfully. It’s only 150 miles as apposed to the 500 I did yesterday.

I started the journey on the motorway again just to crunch some more miles in. I pulled off just before I got into Switzerland to go get petrol. I was met by a guy on a Honda CRF, who approached me about my Garmin Reach device - and then showed me his which

was built into his satnav. He then went on to tell me I reminded him of Itchy Boots, that’s the second person in two days haha! 😂 Noraly is an inspiration to many, including myself - I’m shook when people can even think to compare me to her. 🗺️✨❤️📍

The guy then went on to tell me that the world is going to shut down again next month because they’re working on Virus 2.0 and I just did my best job of smiling and nodding before heading off again.

I was starting to get pretty tired on the motorway, yesterday really took it out of me and then a butterfly landed in my helmet and tried to go up my nose. Butterfly’s are my spirit animal, so I took it as a sign for me to pull off and eat some food.

I found the most amazing place, it was so peaceful with the birds chirping and the wondrous 360 Mountain View’s. You could imagine a dinosaur stepping out at any moment, it was that kind of vibe.

Inside the building was amazing, so architecturally stunning - the food looked so fresh I just had to get something from here to make up for the severe lack of nutrients from last nights dinner.

I got a huge plate of fresh veg and a small side of bruschetta, along with a big water bottle to chug down and an iced coffee. I opened my water - it was sparkling water 😭 there’s nothing I hate more than sparkling water. But needs must and waste not, I downed it and now I feel… sick I think. I’m not sure what’s going on.

I rode about an hour more, before the long straight roads turned into S shaped roads only. I kept myself busy by quoting and singing Lord of the Rings, an absolute must if you’re travelling through Switzerland.

I pulled over in a lay-by when the views became more spectacular and just sat, embracing the moment and feeling thankful for everything that’s happening in my life right now.

Is this the lonely mountain?

I pulled away and stopped once more at the start of The Julier Pass, where a man and women were stood chatting. As I pulled in I seen the ladies face turn into the biggest smile, after chatting with them both and telling them my story - she told me that she’s proud of me and that I should be proud of myself. Trust me that brought tears to my eyes.

It was only another 15 minutes of riding until I got to where I’m staying tonight. I took a stroll down to the lake, it was too beautiful not to. I much prefer staying in places that have natures beauty at heart and less people around - this place was perfect. It was so silent when I rode through earlier, I felt so bad about all the ruckus my exhaust was doing. Every little pop and bang echoed through the mountain pass.. Hehe.

Here’s a photo from the Lake…

When I got back to the hotel, I ordered a Malibu and pineapple juice to celebrate the success of the past two days. Along with the pasta of the day which happened to be vegetarian. Much better than last nights pasta!

Plus a great view to add to it.

That’s all for day 2, I’m off to bed before riding to the Dolomites tomorrow! Make sure to come back to the website for tomorrows update :)

And if you haven’t already, go check out the fundraiser I’m doing for Mental Health Motorbikes, a charity ran by bikers for bikers.

Peace out,

Waifu x
